I want to build a good, mud-capable go kart. I’m good with a welder, but I want to use a prebuilt frame (hopefully at a lower price). I’m good at working on small engines, but I don’t know how big of one to use, gear ratios etc. How much would a good frame with suspension, tires, seat, etc. cost and what should I get for an engine and gears? I have a fully equipped shop, so no worry about tools I do/don’t have. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

How I built my go kart pt2

The kart is finished and i do a video (in 2 pts) of how i built it.

right im a big lad 6,3 and i weigh about 15.5 stone what material should i build my go kart out of? piping or tubing and what material without going overboard on the cost i don’t want the heaviest frame in the world but i want to be able to trust my life on it at 80+kph
and what hp engine would i need! i want this thing to go at least 60mph or over 80kph! probably never going to go that fast but its what i want! also i want quick acceleration as ill probably run out of runway fairly quick!
any ideas?
btw i live in ireland so its no good pointing me to engine sellers that are based in the usa i just want to know the power required to make this thing shift its arse in gear!

I have a go kart frame and I want to buy an engine for a very cheap price that has a throttle cable linked at the steering wheel. I will need to mount the engine to the back of the go kart, but the go kart was designed for a 49cc engine, but aren’t 100cc and 49cc’s roughly same size and weight. Is this a job that I would need money for or could I do it immediately within an hour and start driving the go kart, assuming the engine comes with everything needed – sprocket, chain, exhaust, starter… Also will my axle size be different compared to a 100cc go kart axle. If so would I need a different size axle or sprocket? You see I don’t want to buy an engine when wasting my money finding out that it is useless and junk. How do people fit body work on their frame. Does it stick on or do I screw the plastics on. I only want proper answers please. Also I was told that the engine needs to be installed in a correct position, if so how does this happen? Any ways to reduce sound produced from exhaust pipe or to increase speed and torque.

Go Kart chain drive problem?

I have a custom built go kart with a 200cc Honda, 5 speed. I’m gearing it thru a jack shaft to a live axel, my gearing is 18 on the motor and 18 & 18 on the jack shaft with the final drive of 60. My problem is I can’t keep my primary chain from jumping off. Any suggestions.
