i was thinking about building a go kart with my dad, and i wanted to know if that realistic at all. i dont really care how long it takes, but price may be an issue. any advise would be appriciated.

i have a broken lawn tractor that i may buy off my dad and convert to a go kart. i know it would take a lot of modification, but i think the result is worth it. i would get a new 10-15hp horizontal shaft engine. would there be any other issues doing this?
what kind of tranny would i use? can i hook up a chain drive to the current 5spd transmission and get it to go much faster?

which is better belt driven or chain driven?

is a 8hp motor a good motor to use why or why not?

can i use bike or lawn mower tires?

how can i buy shocks or is there a way to make them?

what kind of piping or material can i use (something cheap but strong) to build it out of?

and you dont have to answer all the questions just what you know.

My friend’s dad bought a old beat up half burn’t up farm house down the road from his house. He had me out about 2 weeks ago and we found 4 old push mower motors. 2 work and there is this one that works really good. His dad helped us get it runnin good and clean. He also said when he was a kid he and his brothers made gokarts. So we got a thinkin and found stuff for a frame and tires and steering wheel. But we need a way to mount the motor so the gas don’t leak and just need plain plans. If you find any let me know and I don’t want to buy them.
